During an interview with Brian Williams on Tuesday, David Letterman didn't hold back in his praise of President Obama, or his criticism of former President Bush.
Talking at length about Obama's leadership in bringing Osama bin Laden to justice, Letterman asked Williams pointedly, "What more do we need this man to do for us, honest to God?" He also criticized Bush's famous "Mission Accomplished" speech, referring to it as "very cute."
Williams was far more reserved, telling Letterman repeatedly that he was getting "a little sideways," and attempting to drive the conversation back to the exclusive interview Williams did with the president on the anniversary of Bin Laden's killing.
Letterman was the first late night host to return to his desk after September 11, 2001, famously saying of the attackers, "...we're told that they were zealots, fueled by religious fervor... religious fervor. And if you live to be a thousand years old, will that make any sense to you? Will that make any goddamned sense
